My Father, My Hero!

19 years seems so distant, yet I remember every detail of his face and it's aged lines of 86 years, the glasses on his nose signifying I was could be in trouble, or on his forehead signifying I was definitely in trouble! Greater still I recall the details of those moments we shared together: whether it was gardening, sailing on the Orinoco, Aruka or the Pomeroon Rivers, gracing our cows, watching him hold my mom close to his cheeks as they waltzed to music of their time, seeing the pride in his eyes at my performances on stage, when I brought home good grades , or even the moments when he would sit me down to seriously scold or counsel  me...

They say a father is a girls first love and that's nothing but the truth! Daddy was such a wise, soft spoken, principled human being who loved and revered our mom and protected his children. He taught me that there is gentleness in strength and strength in gentleness.

He was an exemplary citizen, who believed in community service. He was instrumental in organizing the first secondary school in the region we lived in, and was the uncontested president of my school's P. T.A. for several years. An avid reader, he introduced me to biographical accounts of great leaders of the Western World, reknown civil leaders at home and abroad, and authors like Dale Carnegie. He was instrumental in my interest in a life of political- community service.

Daddy was an eloquent speaker, with a vocabulary matching the learned men of his time. He  was Master's of Cermony at, what seemed like every community activity, which called for one. It was my cousin's birthday and my dad called upon me to make a speech. I was mortified, because I was a very shy and introverted child. I said something mundane in my speech then dashed out of the room where the celebrations were. I hid under a tree and begun to cry, knowing my dad was disappointed because my speech did not measure up to the likes of  his. Thoughts raced through my mind: "why couldn't he have told  me before?" ( may have faked illness not to be there) "could have prepared a speech." My dad did something that would forever transform my life. He found me and said: " Child if you continue to practice public speaking, one day you will become an eloquent speaker." Was it true? Was he trying to motivate me? I would never know.

What I do know, is that that experience had such a profound affect on my life! Pretty  soon, under the guidance of Norma Young, Martin Roberts, George Imhoff, Claude St Romain Sr, George Price, Lenny Chan-A-Sue, the drama club, debating club, the stage was being set to prepare me to walk in the footsteps of my father. I spoke at Queens College at the age of sixteen and made our national news paper. Since then I  have been privileged to confidently speak before audiences of  over 5000 people. (Babcock University in Weat Africa, Eastern Africa, North America, South and Central America, and the Caribbean).

Today I celebrate and honor my dad for what he gave me. He gave me roots which have grown  deeply and  strong, wings to fly high and far! I am currently in the land of his birth, with a desire to make a contribution to this great nation which has helped in molding the woman I am becoming. I spoke today about "Renewing the Broken Brain." Tomorrow, God's willing, I will be speaking on " Nutrition (it's four stages in the process of acquiring and maintaining great health).

Will travel through Brazil and then onto Venezuela, the land of my mom's origin. A wealth of multi- ethnic-cultural heritage gaven to me by my parents. Wish he were here to feel his soft hands , to hear that strong, gentle voice of reason, to seek his wise counsel or just to say: " Thanks dad for believing in me when I miserably  doubted myself. In your honor, I can only strive to be a parent as you have been to me, to encourage and support my own children and grandchildren to believe that they can!

Forever possessing a tender place in my heart daddy....thank you for teaching me by your example!

The Live-R a doorway to our Emotional Library

With few exceptions, physiological dysfunction is associated with the emotions, the bowel, and the liver. More than any other organ, the liver is affected by negative thoughts and feelings. Anger, resentment, depression, fear, and all of their emotional tributaries do more harm to the liver than anything else.

The liver feeds our internal chemistry with substances, which have been, in effect, conditioned by the bowel environment. The bowel, subject to emotional influence, feeds every cell, organ, and gland in our bodies. If the bowel environment becomes toxic, then the blood fed by the bowel, is also toxic, and the liver is forced to deal with it. This is one of the ways that emotions, especially unexpredssed or denied emotions, have the ability to shut down important liver functions.

Live-R Vitality

The Live-r is a vital organ. We cannot be healthy or recovering from illness without a strong, clean, well-functioning liver. In fact one can safely say, that life, health and vitality of every single organ, gland, and cell are absolutely dependent upon the liver.

The liver depends on the digestive tract for its source of nutrition and for assistance in keeping the body and liver clean and healthy. This liver- digestive tract relationship is a major key to not only overcoming liver problems, but also to achieving the outstanding health that we should all experience.

You are what you eat and you are what you do not eliminate...

The top ten things we can do to keep our  colon healthy:

(1) Acknowledge we  are spiritual beings and develop a faith- based relationship with our Creator. Prayer, meditation, His words are great great ways to begin our day. Faith in a Superior Being, has been known to reduce stress, anxiety and worry, all of which affect the elimination  of waste from our colon.

(2) Open air, is best when the source is form areas close to the  water ( lakes, ponds, beaches, creeks, rivers). Negatively charged ions are highest after the rainfall. Keeping  our windows opened , and using  plants in our home, filter  air (for a free exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide). Non restrictive clothing over our respiratory organ ( in the chest area)
allows for free movements of air through the lungs . An ample supply of oxygen enhances circulation and the elimination processes.

(3) Daily exercise tones the muscles of the heart. Life is in the blood and perfect health requires perfect circulation. Weights help to strengthen bones while toning and strengthening muscles. Stretching aids in circulation of  lymph and blood  while lubricating joints. Aerobic exercise helps to oxygenate and de-oxygenate at a cellular level, thus  cleansing and re-building  for efficiency in colon activity.

(4) Sunshine, and its best known benefit, is its ability to boost the body's production of Vitamin D. It's a natural way of fighting stress, boosting  immunity, improving  metabolism, lowering blood pressure, decreasing risk of Diabetes, helping with eye health, and inducing better sleep. Stress has a significant effect on normal bowel function.

(5) The importance of proper rest is underestimated by many. There is a significant difference between  sleeping and resting. It is during rest that the eliminative organs  cleanse, and regenerate. Like any great machinery, if it's  not serviced frequently, the human body will eventually de-compensate without proper rest.

(6) Lots of alkaline fluids, including water, fruit and vegetable juices are crucial for complex metabolic processes. Approximately 75-80 % of the body's cells are made up of fluids. Thirst  is not an indicator for wholesome fluids. When we become thirsty, our body has been dehydrated by at least 75%. Dehydration sets the stage for constipation.

(7) Temperence is moderation in  that which is healthy for the body and abstaining from that which  alter normal body functions. Many times we think about the unhealthy physical substances we place in our bodies. Un-healthy thoughts, emotions are among many self destroying habits.Intemperence impacts on bowel elimination.

(8) Nutrition is the mechanism by which the body nourishes the mind, body, soul and spirit. Garbage in garbage out. We are what we eat and we are what we do not eliminate.

(9) Benovelence has a tremendous influence on the immune response of the body. To give is to receive. Generosity leads not only to emtional satisfaction, but actually promotes health and healing. There is evolutionary rationale to the warm fuzzy experience of altruistic muscles.

(10) An attitude of gratitude also impacts on our wellbeing. The more grateful we are for what we have, the happier we are. The result is positive life adjustment and increased healing.

Any lifestyle habit that decreases stress ( mental, emotional, social, physical, financial, spiritual ) paves the way for better colon function. When the colon is able to timely empty itself of waste, the liver has a greater chance of remaining healthy. When the liver functions adequately, the blood remains alkaline. In an alkaline environment, decay, degeneration and disease is highly unlikely.

Take great care of you colon! Life and death begins in the colon #Godshealingways #Betterliving #lifestye #healthycolon #Godlytrust #openair #dailyexercise #sunshine #properrest #lotsofwater #alwaystemperate #adequatenutrition. #health # wellbeing.

Roots, Branches and Buds of our emotions.

Our emotions are an affective state of consciousness in which feelings are experienced. These experiences are distinguished from cognitive and volitional states of consciousness.

Mood is dependent on chemicals of the brain. Any imbalance in these chemicals, feelings (emotions) are off:
(1) Seratonin-: serenity, hopefulness. Low levels contribute to depression.

(2) Glutamate-: learning and memory. Agitation, compulsivity and anger are related to low levels.

3) GABA -: tranquility. GABA and Glutamate balance each other.

(4) Dopamine-: arousal, stimulation. Released during stress and pain. Decreased levels are associated with substance abuse.

Past experience that can trigger these emotions. Foods and other life style practices can impact on emotions  in a positive way.

The chart below  shows how various negative emotions affect various  parts of the body. Note the darkness cloaking envy....

Let's take responsibility for being in touch with our emotions  and dealing effectively with them.

Rest is like a Vitamin

Rest is vitally important for the effective functioning of the entire body's system.

Each cell is  made up of a nucleus which is further made up of DNA and RNA, powerful proteins, responsible for complex metabolic functions.

It's during rest that these cells, (which make up tissue, which make up organs, which make up systems) cleanse and rebuild.

There is a daily cycle called the circadian rhythm. An inner cycle, called the Circaseptan rhythm, was also built in us to allow for recuperation in around seven days.

These rhythms are connected with several physiological and psychological functions. Heart rate, hormonal content in breast milk, potential for suicide, infection after surgery and rejection of transplanted tissue post surgery,,are among  a few.Infection and tissue rejection tend to take place 7 or 14 days post procedures.

Our body functions begin to slow down at the close of a seventh day cycle, so the body can cleanse and repair at a cellular level.

It's time to slow down! To get off the spinning wheel! Take a break! Recuperate! Rejuvenate for betterliving experiences! Shalom!

"Come Ye apart and rest a while."

Rest: Circaseptan rhythm a body rhythm that run about seven days in length.

Health and Wellness....

We are mental, emotional, social, physical and spiritual beings. A change in any of these regions will have a direct impact on the other areas of our being, ultimately impacting on our finances.

"Health is a sate of complete physical, mental and social well-being,and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." World Health Organization. I would like to add spirituality since there is a spiritual component of mankind.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of, and making choices, towards a healthy and fulfilling life. The Institute of Wellness defines wellness as "an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence."

I will focus on renewing the mind, rejuvenating the body, rebuilding relationships, replenishing our storehouse and restoring the whole image of mankind.

Do join me as we strive to become a healthier, BetterLivingBeing..

Thoughts create habits, habits form character and character determine destination.

It can be something as simple as adding lemon water to your daily routine. Avoiding soda! Something simple.
